With the new weekly video series Parker Is My Town, I’ll be covering a variety of community events and developments, real estate news, and fun and exciting interviews, allowing you a chance to meet the wonderful people of Parker, Colorado. Each week I’ll feature about a segment that can be found on my YouTube channel, my website, and through email distribution. The official launch of this series will be Tuesday, January 3rd and then every Tuesday after that.
This week I’m excited for my special holiday edition and the opportunity to share my family holiday favorites with you. The Holidays in Parker are truly magical and its one of my favorite times a year, so let’s talk about the best holiday activities in Parker.
Bundle up with me and my fellow Council Members the day after Thanksgiving as we gather around the Town Tree to kick off the Holidays at The Mayors Holiday Lighting. This night is enchanting as the Parker Chorale leads us in a Silent Night sing-along followed by the amazing park illumination. Once the park lights up, the rest of the fun begins! There will be a live ice carving demonstration and then make sure to check out all the ice sculpture displays around the park. You’ll also get to see Santa and Mrs. Claus, and I’ve even heard Elsa and Olaf just might be making an appearance!
Continue celebrating the holiday season in Downtown Parker during The Hometown Holiday Experience. Although it kicks off the weekend after Thanksgiving, it runs through the month of December up to Christmas. There is a North Pole Pass available for purchase for kids aged 3-10. The festivities will include so many activities but look for visits from Buddy the Elf and his friends, shop the holiday market, enjoy food vendors in O’Brien Park, and take in music and decoration displays along Mainstreet. Find the mailbox for those special Letters to Santa, complete an Elf scavenger Hunt, and lace up the skates on The Parker Ice Trail. The experience is complete with holiday music playing on Mainstreet while you shop, dine, or just stroll.
On December 4th at The Lantern House in Stepping Stone from 11am to 3pm, I would like to personally invite you to the Barrington Group’s annual Santa Claus is coming to Town Holiday Event. Why wait in those crazy lines at the mall when you can stay right here in Parker and get a holiday photo with Santa. You’re going to leave with a photo, but you’ll also get an electronic copy in time to make your own holiday cards. You do need to RSVP to this event so that we have enough refreshments for everyone, and so we can give Santa and Mrs. Claus a break!
Another event that you shouldn’t miss, The Downtown Business Alliance is bringing Back one of Parker’s favorite traditions, the Parker Hometown Christmas Parade. Everyone just loves gathering along Mainstreet and Victorian Drive in to enjoy this Christmas tradition.
Give Back this Holiday Season
I would also encourage you to remember those less fortunate. There are so many worthy local causes, but something you can do today is go home and look in your closets, your kid’s closets, and pull out those coats you’ve outgrown or just don’t need anymore. There is someone out there that truly does need it. You can drop them off at my office for Be the Good Ones.
Parker Task Force is another organization that I fully stand behind. They are a 100% volunteer organization and our community in Parker needs them. Their shelves have been unusually bare lately. Check out their website for a needs list.
Covered Colorado is another organization that needs our constant help, but for the holidays you can purchase a beautiful ornament made by a survivor and the proceeds go to help other survivors of human trafficking. Yes, it happens right under our noses and in our back yards, even here in Parker.
